This sounds like one of those way out ideas, like “Visit The Moon”, seems almost impossible right? Think you’re going to tame a lion? Unlikely, well, maybe not so much so. Turns out that you CAN be a lion tamer and it’s not as difficult as it sounds, although not quite the Barnum and Bailey version. There are a number of ways that you can get on with big cats or big wild animals, bears, etcetra.
Yes, the first way is to hop on a flight and head on over to Africa somewhere and visit one of the rescue ranches that take in injured or otherwise abandoned animals, which are more or less really awesome petting zoos – and trust us, this is amazing. You can hang out with a cheetah.
But if you want to get full blown crazy, there are a number of “autre” ranches and reserves where you can actually train to be a lion tamer. For instance, Hollywood Animals outside of Los Angeles does outreaches where you can sign up for a long weekend or even longer and work with the big cats there.
If you want to head further off the beaten track you can work with rescue organizations that help animals. A lot of these guys do actually give you hands on experience, it is one above and beyond the simple, adopt a rescue dog.
